French stallions on parade

The team at Haras de Bonneval, home of the French-based Aga Khan stallions, will once again open the doors to welcome visitors on both days of the Route des Etalons.

Siyouni

The roster of four stallions will be on show from 10am on both Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th January, with the last show scheduled for 3.30pm each day.

They are headed by Siyouni, Europe’s number one sire of ‘Guineas’ winners, who was responsible for Group 1 winners as a sire, a sire of sires and a broodmare sire in 2025 as well as seven-figure stars in the sales ring. In-demand sire Zarak meanwhile has consistently achieved impressive statistics that include 13 Group 1 horses among his first four crops to race – with his more expensively-bred offspring soon to hit the track in 2026.

Also on show will be up-and-coming young sires Vadeni and Erevann. Cartier Champion Three-Year-Old Vadeni achieved success on both sides of the Channel as a racehorse, and did the same last year with his first crop of foals, which included a filly sold for 200,000gns at Tattersalls and a colt sold for €100,000 at Arqana. In total he had eight foals sell for an average of over €72,500, and his first yearlings this year are much anticipated.

Vadeni

Erevann, a Group 2 winning son of Dubawi and triple Group 1 winner Ervedya, has been incredibly popular since his retirement to stud at a fee of €8,000. He too had his first foals in 2025, which sold for a top price of 120,000gns and an average of over €37,300.

In addition to the stallion parades, the Aga Khan Studs alongside Au-Delà des Pistes will be selling caps, keyrings, calendars, handwarmers, USBs and books. This initiative to raise funds for the retraining of racehorses generated almost €2,000 last year and hopefully will prove successful once again.

Signage will be in place to direct visitors to the farm, or the address ‘905 route de Bonneval, 14270 Le Mesnil Mauger’ can be used for satellite navigation. The team look forward to seeing you there!
