Aventure a fourth Group 1 winner for Sea The Stars in 2026

The Wertheimer & Frère homebred put up a brilliant show of versatility as she took the Gr.1 Prix Jean et Louis Romanet by two lengths at Deauville on Sunday.

Aventure

Aventure has been a model of consistency and class throughout her career, most notably winning the Gr.1 Prix Vermeille and finishing second in the Gr.1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. Dropped back in distance this season, she was previously seen winning the Gr.2 Prix Corrida over 2,100 metres in May.

The mare enjoyed a perfect trip in Sunday’s Gr.1 Prix Jean Romanet, accelerating beautifully in the straight to score an effortless two-length victory over a strong field that included the unbeaten four-time Group 1 winner Diamond Necklace.

Her trainer Christophe Ferland said: "She really did something today, she was perfectly ridden. She loved that strong pace and 2,000 metres is really her thing now as she’s got faster. We still have some stalls work to do, but she was impressive today, giving four kilos away, and is a real top mare now – the mare of a lifetime. There is always pressure when you bring horses like her to the races."

Sea The Stars

This was a seventh Group success for the Wertheimer & Frère homebred, who could now be aimed at the Gr.1 Prix de l’Opéra on Arc weekend before targeting the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf.

Aventure was also continuing a banner season for her sire, Sea The Stars, who has had four Group 1 winners to date in 2026. Earlier that week, he was represented by Maltese Cross, who recorded his fifth career victory from seven starts in the Gr.2 Great Voltigeur Stakes at York.
