Erdenali

The Aga Khan colours enjoyed a successful Saturday afternoon with a Stakes double at Deauville headed by the exciting Erdenali and the progressive Narissa, while the influence of the Aga Khan Studs stallion roster continued to shine throughout the weekend.

Three-year-old Erdenali maintained his unbeaten record with a commanding display in the Listed Prix de Saint-Patrick on his first attempt at Stakes level. The son of Caravaggio has progressed rapidly since his eye-catching debut in the spring and once again showcased his class, travelling smoothly before quickening clear under Mickael Barzalona. He is out of a Sea The Stars half-sister to the promising young stallion Erevann, making him a grandson of the triple Group 1 winner Ervedya (Siyouni).

Narissa

The Listed honours were quickly doubled thanks to Narissa, who returned to winning ways with a determined performance in the Listed Prix de Bagatelle. The daughter of Siyouni has consistently competed at a high level throughout her career, notably finishing third in the Gr.1 Prix Marcel Boussac at two. She is a granddaughter of the Group 1-placed Narniyn.

The strength of Zarak's current crop was also on display, with his daughters Zaraxia and Abbey Road filling the remaining places behind Narissa. Zaraxia, who is already a Stakes winner, finished second, while Abbey Road produced an encouraging effort to take third on her first attempt at Stakes level.

Sea The Stars

Sea The Stars' influence as a broodmare sire was exemplified by Erdenali on Saturday and further highlighted on Sunday. His daughters produced the Gr.3 Dubai Duty Free International Stakes winner Purview, while Gr.1 Derby hero Christmas Day finished runner-up in the Irish equivalent.

The Gilltown Stud stalwart also continued to make his mark with his own progeny. His promising juvenile Alpha looks a star in the making after an impressive six-length victory at the Curragh on Irish Derby Day. The regally bred filly is out of the Niarchos family's champion Alpha Centauri, suggesting there could be plenty more to come from this exciting prospect.
