Midak is by Footstepsinthesand out of winning Sinndar mare Minya, whose own dam Minatlya is a Group winning sister to triple Australian Group 1 hero Manighar.

This chestnut colt did not run at two, but quickly made a name for himself at three when he picked up a hat-trick of wins in quick succession. He won on debut at Lyon La Soie by three lengths in March, and again at Chantilly in April, where he led from start to finish.

Stepped up to Group company in the Gr.3 Prix Greffulhe, he put in another game front-running performance to win by a ready two and a half lengths. 

He had done enough to earn him a supplementary entry to the Derby, which in 2025 was run in honour of his breeder, the late Aga Khan IV. He travelled well into the straight, but possibly not liking the softening ground eased off to finish tenth of the 18 runners, with subsequent Eclipse winner Delacroix a neck ahead of him in ninth.
