2022 b. f. Ghaiyyath - Mandesha (Desert Style)
Trained by Francis-Henri Graffard
Owned and bred by Princess Zahra Aga Khan, Mandanaba is the final foal out of her three-time Group 1 winner Mandesha, who was Champion Three-Year-Old filly of 2006.
Mandanaba opened her account at Chantilly in the November of her two-year-old season, where she identified herself as a ‘rising star’ with an impressive six-length success.
On her reappearance the following April, she made all the running in the nine-furlong Gr.3 Prix Vanteaux at ParisLongchamp, finishing three-quarters of a length ahead of the much more experienced Stakes winner Flaming Stone.
“She is a lovely filly who loves to be in a good rhythm, so we wanted to let her do her own thing,” explained her trainer Francis-Henri Graffard. “It was a good performance, but I'm not sure we will go further in trip with her and we might even revert to a mile. Let's wait and see how she comes out of this one.”
Mandanaba was routed to the Gr.1 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches for her next outing, despite her relative inexperience. She ran admirably, finishing third just a length behind the first two home, which included her stablemate and fellow Aga Khan Studs homebred Zarigana.
By Gr.1 winning sprinter Blue Point out of Kerasona, a five-furlong Listed winning daughter of Oasis Dream, Keran boasts a pedigree designed for speed.
