Coeur Macen

Siyouni and Sea The Stars scored Listed winners on a busy weekend. Both Siyouni and Sea The Stars were responsible for Stakes winners over the weekend.

In France, the strikingly marked Coeur Macen, bred by Haras du Quesnay, became Siyouni’s 62nd individual Stakes winner when taking the Listed Prix Bedel at Lyon Parilly. Trainer Jean-Paul Gauvin said the mare, who runs for a partnership of owners, might next head to the Gr.2 Prix Corrida on 24th May.

Al Aasy

At Ascot, Sea The Stars five-year-old Al Aasy – a Gr.3 winner and Gr.1 Coronation Cup runner-up in 2021 - made a winning seasonal debut in the Listed Buckhounds Stakes for Sheikha Hissa Hamdan Al Maktoum, Shadwell and the William Haggas stable – the same connections as Sea The Stars’ brilliant miler Baaeed.

Also over the weekend, Zarak filly Queen Of Beaufay was an easy winner of the Czech 1000 Guineas (a local Listed race) for breeder Haras de Beaufay, and Harzand gelding Get The Power (bred by Haras du Cadran, Patrick Klein and Jean-Louis Burgat) won his second race in the colours of Luigi Roveda.

Shartash

There were also three winners in the Aga Khan silks, with three-year-old Rozgar setting the scene when landing his second race of 2022 on Friday at Chantilly. He is the second foal out of Listed-placed Sea The Stars mare Roshanara, a half-sister to Gr.1 winner Rosanara.

The following day, two-year-old Shartash broke his maiden at Naas on the second attempt, becoming the first winner in the green-and-red silks for trainer Johnny Murtagh in the process. The precocious colt is out of multiple Group winning mare Shamreen and is a 10th generation Aga Khan Studs homebred, tracing back to Pale Ale.

On Sunday, it was the turn of three-year-old Carini, who showed a smart burst of speed to break his maiden at Saint-Cloud for the Francis-Henri Graffard stable. His dam Candarliya, a daughter of Dalakhani, herself won the Gr.2 Prix de Royallieu and Gr.2 Prix Maurice de Nieuil.

At the same meeting at Saint-Cloud, Dilawar finished a very good second in the Gr.2 Prix du Muguet, beaten only by a head. The consistent son of Dubawi is the winner of four races including at Group 3 level. His dam is the Group 1 winner Dolniya, whose daughter Dolia (Invincible Spirit) won last month at ParisLongchamp.
