Excellent average and clearance-rate for in-form stallion. Hot on the heels of his third Stakes winner from his first crop of juveniles, Siyouni made a great impression at Arqana’s Yearlings Sale and V2 Sale in Deauville with his second generation of yearlings.

During the select weekend catalogue, Siyouni’s sole entry lot 129 raised a bid of 200,000 Euros from Australian buyer James Harron. From a speedy and precocious family, the filly is a half-sister to juvenile Gr. 3 Prix de la Rochette winner My Name is Bond, out of a full-sister to top-class sprinter Striking Ambition. The agent described his purchase as, “a very forward filly and an outstanding type. Her sire Siyouni is firing on all cylinders.”

Monday’s session saw two Siyouni yearlings pass through the Deauville ring and they both met with success. Out of Listed-placed Around Me (Johannesburg), lot 254 is from the close family of Breeders’ Cup scorer Last Tycoon and champion filly Immortal Verse, and he was snapped up at 70,000 Euros by Robert Collet, who trained this pair to their Group 1 wins. Lot 204, named Super Youni, is destined for Germany after being bought by Manfred Hofer for 50,000 Euros. This colt is out of an unraced Anabaa mare who is a half-sister to Prix du Jockey-Club runner up Super Célèbre.

Arqana’s V2 Sale specifically targets the market for precocious, French-bred youngsters so Siyouni was logically strongly represented in this catalogue. Of the Bonneval sire’s thirteen products presented, a dozen found new owners at the sale, for a total of 629,000 Euros and an average of 52,417 Euros, which is significantly higher than the overall V2 average of 36,163 Euros.

Agent Alain Decrion picked up the top priced filly of the V2 Sale, Trixia (lot 400), a daughter of a five-time winner, including at Listed level, for 85,000 Euros. Sylvain Vidal of the Haras de la Cauvinière shelled out 75,000 Euros to secure lot 390, out of Choisir mare Snow Valley. Vidal re-entered the fray later on to take lot 437, Filzeto, for 56,000 Euros. This colt is out of a half-sister to Italian Gr. 1 scorer Sunstrach, from the maternal line of Lammtarra.

Jean-Claude Rouget knows Siyouni’s produce very well as he is responsible for his first Group winner, the highly-regarded Ervedya. The Pau-based handler was on the mark at 70,000 Euros for lot 412, out of a half-sister to three Stakes winners including Classic-placed Reply.

Lot 456 is a pure product of the Aga Khan Studs as in addition to his sire Siyouni, his dam Kadiana (Grand Lodge) was raised by the breeding operation. Kadiana hails from a high-class family, being out of a half-sister to the late dual Derby winner and effective sire Kahyasi. This chestnut colt was knocked down for 60,000 Euros to agent Hubert Guy, who had already purchased Siyouni’s first Stakes winner Mocklershill at Arqana in August last year.
