Charm Spirit

Ervedya, Sistercharlie, Naaqoos, Dabirsim and National Defense among close relatives. The in-form Aga Khan Studs sires Siyouni, Sea The Stars and Charm Spirit feature strongly at the forthcoming Arqana Deauville yearling sale. Among the highlights is a three-quarter sister to Ervedya, in addition to half-siblings to Sistercharlie, Naaqoos, Dabirsim and National Defense.

The Haras de Bonneval’s Siyouni currently leads the French sires’ rankings, thanks notably to the exploits of Prix de Diane heroine Laurens, and 25 of his progeny feature in the premier section of the Arqana catalogue. A major attraction is likely to be the Haras de Saint Vincent’s lot 109 Anna Ferreti, as her winning Aga Khan Studs-bred dam Elayouna is none other than a half-sister to Siyouni’s first Classic winner, Ervedya, whose Group 1 haul includes the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches, Coronation Stakes and Prix du Moulin de Longchamp.

No less than three of Siyouni’s yearlings are half-brothers to winners of the French juvenile colts’ championship, the Group 1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère : lot 24 – a half-brother to Dabirsim, lot 44 – to Naaqoos and lot 79, to National Defense, while a number of others are out of Group winning dams. Lot 90 is out of a sister to Lope De Vega, lot 102 is the half-brother to Group 1 third Ocovango, and lot 293 is a full brother to Group and Listed winner Souvenirdelondres.

Sea The Stars has enjoyed great success this season with Irish Oaks heroine Sea Of Class, as well as Ascot Gold Cup and Goodwood Cup scorer Stradivarius. The Gilltown Stud sire is represented by eight yearlings at Arqana and these include lot 39, whose dam is a full sister to Classic winner Tin Horse, lot 91 who is out of a half-sister to dual Group 1 scorer Saddex, from an excellent Niarchos Family bloodline, and lot 152, the first offspring of a half-sister to dual Group 1 winner and sire Reliable Man. Lot 188 is a granddaughter of Group 1 winner Porlezza, and lot 230 hails from an Aga Khan Studs maternal line rich in black type.

Charm Spirit, who was based at Haras de Bonneval this year, has made a flying start with his first juveniles on the track this season and the top class miler has six progeny in the premium section of the Arqana sale, and one in the V2. These are highlighted by lot 43, a half-brother to Sistercharlie, now a triple Group 1 winner in the USA following her recent victory in the Beverly D Stakes.
