Seismos takes Gr 1 Grosser Preis von Bayern. Gilltown Stud sire Dalakhani celebrated his sixth individual Group 1 winner on Sunday as the Andreas Wohler-trained Seismos lifted the Grosser Preis von Bayern at Munich. Dalakhani now counts ten successes at the highest level as a sire, thanks to Classic scorers Conduit, Moonstone, Duncan and Reliable Man, as well as Chinese White and now Seismos.

The five-year-old Seismos was recording his fourth black-type victory, after picking up a Listed contest at Clairefontaine at three years old and a pair of Group 3 events in Germany last season. The gelding was sent to the front in the early stages of the mile and a half Grosser Preis von Bayern and accelerated away from his rivals in the straight to score by four lengths.

Seismos could now head off on his travels, as Andreas Wohler indicated that his major target for the autumn is likely to be the Group 1 Canadian International at Woodbine in October.

Seismos is owned by his breeder Gestüt Karlshof and hails from an excellent German family. He is the best produce of his dam, Dashing Blade mare Sasuela who is a half-sister to Deutsches Derby winners Samum and Schiaparelli, as well as Preis der Diana victrix Salve Regina. His granddam Sacarina was by Sadler’s Wells son Old Vic.

Dalakhani has enjoyed more Stakes success recently thanks to the in-form Royal Blue Star. The five-year-old mare was winning her second race in a row when finishing fast to take the Listed Platinum Stakes at Cork.

Prix du Jockey-Club and Arc hero Dalakhani will be represented by a quartet of yearlings at the forthcoming Arqana yearling sales at Deauville, starting this weekend.
