Bonneval stallion is maternal grandsire of Trading Leather and Flotilla. A highly effective stallion in his own right, SINNDAR is rapidly gaining a reputation as a leading producer of broodmares. The direct sire of four Gr 1 winners, notably Prix Vermeille and Yorkshire Oaks victrix SHARETA, he now boasts three Classic scorers as a grandsire, as Trading Leather and Flotilla have added their names to that of Encke, winner of the Gr 1 St Leger in 2012.

Owned, bred and trained by Jim Bolger, Irish Derby hero Trading Leather is out of unraced Sinndar mare Night Visit who has also produced winner Gleadhradh (Chevalier). He represents the Sinndar – Galileo cross as Trading Leather is from the second crop of Teofilo.

Trading Leather wins the Irish Derby in 2013

The colt was successful from his juvenile days, winning two of his four outings at two years old, including the Gr 3 Autumn Stakes over a mile at Newmarket. Trading Leather has been consistent at the highest level in 2013, beginning his season with second place behind future Epsom Derby runner-up Libertarian in the Gr 2 Dante Stakes, before taking third when dropped back to a mile in the Gr 1 Irish 2000 Guineas. The progressive individual was then the easy winner of the Listed Silver Stakes over ten furlongs at the Curragh and stayed on well to lift the Irish Derby on his first attempt over a mile and a half. Trading Leather now has a range of options including the King George V and Queen Elizabeth Stakes, the St Leger and Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.

Encke (Kingmambo) offered Bonneval sire Sinndar his first taste of Classic glory as a broodmare sire when picking up the St Leger last September. The colt is out of Aga Khan bred SHAWANDA, a dual Gr 1 winner herself who is also dam of Gr 3 scorer Genius Beast (Kingmambo).

Flotilla has become an international ambassador for her damsire Sinndar as she ran out the impressive winner of the Gr 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Filles’ Turf in Santa Anita last November. The daughter of Mizzen Mast and Gr 3 victrix Louvain then scored in the Gr 1 Poule d’Essai des Pouliches at Longchamp on her seasonal début. Flotilla is a half-sister to American Gr 3 winner Louvakhova (Maria’s Mon).
