Colt at Tattersalls sells for 3.7 million guineas.
A colt by Arc winning sire Sea The Stars became the world’s most expensive yearling of 2025 on Tuesday at the Tattersalls Book 1 Sale. Purchased by Godolphin for 3.7 million guineas, the colt is also the most expensive yearling ever sired by Sea The Stars and the joint-fifth most expensive lot in Book 1 history.
Consigned by Longview Stud, the smart chestnut is a close relative of Sea The Stars’ Champion Crystal Ocean, being out of his Stakes winning half-sister Crystal Zvezda.
“He’s an exceptional yearling from a very good stud farm,” said Godolphin representative Anthony Stroud. “He’s by Sea The Stars, an unbelievable stallion, from a very good Rothschild family and he is majestic in the way he moves. He’s an extremely lovely horse and obviously the family goes well with Sea The Stars.
“Without a doubt, he was the one that stood out for us. You have to pay for the ones you really want and he was the one we really wanted.”
Sea The Stars posted another yearling in the top 10 on day one when his daughter out of Stakes winner Danilovna – a half-sister to blue hen Lilly Langtry – sold for 750,000 guineas to Cheveley Park Stud. The filly was consigned by Brian O’Rourke Bloodstock.
It was a memorable weekend for Sea The Stars, whose progeny lit up both the racecourse and the sales ring with a new Group 1 triumph and the top price at the BBAG Yearling Sale.
