Just days before his daughter Taghrooda will be sent off as one of the favourites for the Group 1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, Sea The Stars was in high demand at Goffs Orby Sale.

The Gilltown sire, an unbeaten Arc winner himself, was represented by seven yearlings at Ireland’s premier yearling auction, and all of these met with success in the ring, for an average of 402,857 Euros.

Sea The Stars lit up the second and final day of the sale with his daughter lot 270 who is a half-sister to Gr. 1 Prix Jean Prat scorer Lord Shanakill, now a sire. The Ballylinch Stud consignee was knocked down for 1.1 million Euros to Amanda Skiffington, on behalf of Fiona Carmichael and Ian Jennings.

Sea The Stars was responsible for Day Two top price, a half-sister to Lord Shanakill sold for €1,100,000.

This seven-figure sum was the second highest price of the sale overall and the top price for a filly. The filly’s grand-dam is a full sister to champion mare Al Bahathri, now a top-class broodmare as dam of Classic winner Haafhd.

Sea The Stars’ top colt raised a bid of 850,000 Euros from Michael Wallace, acting for the China Horse Club. The chestnut Lot 227 is out of Listed winner Evensong, half-sister to Champion German juvenile Eagle Rise, from the close family of Epalo. Sunderland Holding, the breeding operation of Sea The Stars’ owners the Tsui family, bought a filly (lot 428) by the leading sire for 300,000 Euros. Out of a half-sister to Poule d’Essai des Pouliches victrix Elusive Wave, the filly is a half-sister to Listed winner City Image.

Sea The Stars, who already counts four Group 1 successes from his first generation on the racetrack, will be represented by 31 lots during Tattersalls yearling sales beginning on October 7th.
