Sea The Stars and Dalakhani on Stakes-winning form

Listed successes for Astronereus and Candarliya.

Candarliya became Dalakhani's 44th Stakes winner when taking the Listed Prix de Thiberville.

Listed successes for Astronereus and Candarliya. Gilltown sires Sea The Stars and Dalakhani registered their 17th and 44th Stakes winners respectively recently with victories at York and Longchamp.

Sea The Stars, who is also sire of triple Gr 1 placed Storm The Stars, celebrated his latest black-type success at York on Saturday 11th July. On his first attempt in Stakes company and over the distance of one mile and six furlongs, his son Astronereus, a half brother to Le Havre, made his mark with an assured performance to secure the Listed Silver Cup at York. A dual winner over ten furlongs and a mile and a half at Newmarket, the four-year-old Astronereus is likely to be aimed towards Goodwood before a return to York for the important Ebor Handicap in August.

Six-time Group 1 hero Sea The Stars has been most creditably represented in recent weeks by Classic performer Storm The Stars. Winner of the Listed Cocked Hat Stakes at Goodwood in May, the colt has proved himself to be among the best of his generation over a mile and a half. William Haggas’s consistent charge took third place in the Epsom Derby, filled the runner-up spot in the Irish equivalent and then finished third in the Grand Prix de Paris. Storm The Stars could now be given a break prior to another Classic attempt in Doncaster’s St Leger in September.

Dalakhani shone on Longchamp’s Grand Prix de Paris card thanks to his progressive daughter Candarliya who was a cosy winner of the Listed Prix Thiberville. The Alain de Royer Dupré trained three-year-old has now won her last three starts and looks to have a bright future. She is the 44th Stakes winner of her sire, who is currently ranked 9th European stallion in order of Stakes winners to runners.

Sea The Stars is set to be represented by five yearlings in Arqana’s August catalogue, and one entry in the BBAG yearling sale at Baden Baden, while Dalakhani has two colts in the Deauville catalogue.
