Record-breaking Helsinge yearling sells for Aus$5 million. Multiple champion Australian sire Redoute’s Choice, who resides currently at the Haras de Bonneval, is also a champion in the sales ring. His 2013 yearlings have enjoyed spectacular results at the recent Inglis Easter Sale, topped by a record-breaking son of Helsinge who reached the heady sum of Aus$5 million. This half-brother to world phenomenal sprinter Black Caviar and triple Gr.1 winner All Too Hard attracted huge interest from around the globe and was eventually knocked down to BC3 Thoroughbreds for the highest ever bid in Australasian sales history. The same connections had purchased the colt’s full sister, now named Belle Couture, a year earlier for Aus$2.6 million.

Redoute’s Choice boasted two further seven-figure yearlings at the prestigious Sydney sale, with agent James Bester shelling out Aus$1.2 million for a son of Black Caviar’s Group winning granddam Scandinavia, and John Warren paying a round million for a filly out of top New Zealand filly Star Satire.

During the three-day sale, 26 individuals by Redoute’s Choice met with success in the ring, for a total of Aus$15.87 million, an average of Aus$610,385 and a median of Aus360,000. This is the ninth consecutive year that Redoute’s Choice has topped the sires’ statistics for this sale and he counts a total of 63 yearlings sold for one million Australian dollars or more during the last decade. The contribution of Redoute's Choice to the Easter Yearling Sale since 2003 now exceeds $214 million - more than 20% of the auction's aggregate business in that period.

The stallion’s dominance is further highlighted by the presence of Snitzel in third position in the table, indicating Redoute’s Choice’s talent as a sire of sires. The young Redoute’s Choice sire sold ten yearlings at the Easter sale for an average of Aus$335,000 and his progeny featured one million-dollar colt.
