Three-year-old becomes the 10th Stakes winner of 2023 for Zarak. Zarak posted his 10th Stakes winner of the season yesterday when Rashford and Shakti provided the sire with a one-two in the Listed Prix Vulcain at Deauville.

Rashford, who has also been Stakes placed on multiple occasions this year including close thirds in the Gr.3 Prix Hocquart and Gr.3 Prix Greffulhe, pulled clear of the field to win in easy style by a length.”

Trainer Yann Barberot said: “Today, he found the soft ground that he appreciates. It is good to end the season like this… perhaps the best is yet to come. He should mature well – you have to take it step by step.”

Runner-up Shakti was making only the third start of her career, having been unbeaten in two runs going into the race. Her trainer Mathieu Brasme commented: “I think we have a good filly for next season. She takes her races well, I am very pleased with her.”
