The Aga Khan stallions have made a flying start to the season with recent successes for all the sires that have progeny of racing age. Kahyasi’s three-year-old son, Silver Cross, was impressive when winning the Listed Prix Policeman this weekend at Cagnes-sur-Mer. His trainer Didier Prod’homme said after his colt’s one and a half length success: “Of all the horses I have brought to Cagnes, Silver Cross has improved the most. I definitely think he is a very good horse. I’ve also just entered him in the Prix du Jockey-Club!”.

Later in the day another son of Kahyasi, Kalahari King secured black type for the first time when finishing a game third to Silver Cross’s older half brother, Ascetic Silver, in the Listed Grand Prix du Conseil Général des Alpes-Maritimes.

The younger Aga Khan stallions have also been siring regular winners this year. Sendawar was represented by his fourth winner of 2005 when the Henri-Alex Pantall trained, Alfred won by two and a half lengths on his three-year-old debut earlier in the week. While Sinndar’s three-year-old Italian trained daughter, Velleia won on her second start this year when showing resilience to win the Premio San Matteo by a neck at Pisa on Thursday.

Confirmed young sire, Daylami had a promising winner with his three-year-old son Dalsy on Tuesday. The colt stormed home to a six length win in the Premio Grundy at Rome.
