December's issue of PACEMAKER featured the following write up on Kalanisi; "Though a late-maturing type, who was unraced as a two-year old but became one of the very best middle-distance runners in the world, multiple Group 1 star Kalanisi finished eighth in the freshman sires' table."

The article concludes,

"Kalanisi certainly looks likely to sire pattern winners and he seems sure to become one of the few of this year's freshmen who will also get Group 1 winners."
