Intercontinental, whose dam, Hasili, is by leading broodmare sire Kahyasi, won the Grade 2 Palomar Breeders' Cup over 12 furlongs in the States at the weekend. In doing so she beat the French bred Amorama by a length and a quarter, having finished a length behind her to take third place in the Grade 1 John c Mabee Handicap last time out. Since winning the Matriarch Stakes (Gr.1) last November, the Juddmonte Farms owned and bred mare has not finished outside the first 3.

Closer to home, Kahyasi was also broodmare sire of the Listed Superior Mile winner Linngari (Indian Ridge ex Lidakiya) at Haydock, owned and bred by HH The Aga Khan's Studs and trained by Sir Michael Stoute. Updated 05/09/2005.
