Siyouni

Visitors will be welcomed to H.H. the Aga Khan’s Haras de Bonneval in Normandy on Sunday 6th February when Sinndar and newcomer Siyouni will be the stars of the show.

A Group 1 winner as a juvenile, Siyouni is a son of proven sire Pivotal, out of Stakes winning mare Sichilla (Danehill) who is a half-sister to one of France’s most successful stallions, Slickly. Siyouni made his debut in the May of his two-year-old career to win four races, including the Gr.1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère in which he defeated future Group 1 winners Lope De Vega, Dick Turpin, Buzzword and Beethoven.

Siyouni embarks upon his first season at stud after a three-year-old campaign which saw him pick up places in several Group 1 contests including second in the Prix Jean Prat and a close fourth in the St James’s Palace Stakes.

In order to celebrate this latest addition to H.H. the Aga Khan’s stallion roster and thank breeders for their continued support, all breeders who have purchased a nomination to Siyouni by 28th February will be entered in a prize draw for the opportunity to win a second nomination to the young sire.

Sinndar

Dual Derby and Arc hero Sinndar is renowned amongst French-based sires and proved his worth once again in 2010. His daughter Rosanara, a Group 1 winner at two, went on to fill runner-up spot in the Gr.1 Prix de Diane behind stablemate Sarafina, and flagbearer Youmzain picked up yet more places at the highest level when taking second in the Gr.1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud and third in the Gr.1 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes.

Sinndar proved again his consistency in producing 55% of winners to runners from his first French crop. The versatile stallion also enjoyed a good deal of success over jumps, thanks notably to his son Mandali who won the Gr.1 Grande Course de Haies (French Champion Hurdle) and Mourad who is a leading contender for the Gr.1 World Hurdle at Cheltenham after a pair of Grade 2 victories this winter.

Bonneval, which is located at Le Mesnil Mauger in Normandy, will open from 9am until 4pm, with food and refreshments served throughout the day.

This event is part of an “Open Weekend” for many leading Normandy studs, which offers breeders an ideal and convenient opportunity to visit some of the region’s top stallions over two days.
