Born To Sea secures first Group victory. The Aga Khan Studs stallions were on spectacular form on Sunday, with a Group double for Siyouni in Deauville, and a first Group success for first season sire Born To Sea at the Curragh.

Sea The Stars’ three-quarter brother Born To Sea has begun to follow in the illustrious footsteps of his elder. The young stallion opened his Stakes account as a stallion thanks to Sea Of Grace, the same filly who had provided him with his first Irish success at Tipperary in July. Sea Of Grace stuck well to her task in the Gr. 3 Flame of Tara Stakes to secure victory from H.H. the Aga Khan’s representative Eziyra (Teofilo). The juvenile filly, who carries the celebrated colours of the Tsui family’s Sunderland Holding, is still on the upgrade and her trainer John Oxx commented, “She’s a filly with a good turn of foot. If she comes out of this race well she could come back for the Gr. 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes.” A 260,000 Euro yearling at Arqana’s August Yearling Sale last year, Sea Of Grace is out of winning Vettori mare Lady Dettoria.

At Deauville, Siyoushake and Finsbury Square recorded a Group double for their talented sire Siyouni, lifting the Gr.3 Prix Quincey and Gr.3 Prix de Meautry respectively. The pair of four-year-olds are both confirmed Stakes performers.

Already a Listed victrix, Siyoushake ran out the convincing winner of the Gr.3 Prix Quincey over Deauville’s straight mile, and she is also set to step in grade with the Gr. 1 Sun Chariot Stakes quoted as her next objective by trainer Freddy Head. Siyoushake is a daughter of Shakeyourbody, (Giant’s Causeway), half-sister to American Gr. 1 scorer Frost Giant, and she cost 50,000 Euros as a yearling at Arqana’s October market.

Winner of the Gr. 3 Prix de Saint-Georges earlier in the year, and placed in multiple Group and Listed contests, Finsbury Square posted his credentials for the Gr. 1 Prix de l’Abbaye with success in the Gr. 3 Prix de Meautry over six furlongs. Trained by Fabrice Chappet, this son of Siyouni carries the colours of his breeder Berend van Dalfsen.
