Alzora wins the VRC Vanity Stakes Gr3

Progressive three year-olds Alzora and Sheer Talent both made impressive claims on further carnival success during the southern hemisphere autumn, last Saturday at Flemington. Alzora broke her maiden in the Listed MRC Ethereal S. before finishing 5th in the VRC Oaks Gr1. Trainer David Hayes hopes that she will develop into an Australasian Oaks filly. Alzora’s granddam Bineyah (Sadlers Wells) was Gr1 placed in Europe, in the Yorkshire and Irish Oaks.

On the same card, Sheer Talent scored his first Black Type win. The Mark Kavanagh trained colt zoomed in to the line in the 1400 metre Group 3 VRC CS Hayes Stakes by three-quarters of a length.

Sheer Talent wins the VRC CS Hayes S. Gr3

Previously a maiden winner, he becomes his sire’s 98th individual Stakes winner. Connexions say that he may go even better over further, and is a progressive horse. Sheer Talent’s pedigree also features Sadler's Wells on the distaff side. His dam is a daughter of Barathea and a descendant of Great Klaire, a half-sister to the champion broodmare Eight Carat.
