Grey Swallow delighted his connections when maintaining his unbeaten record in the Listed Leopardstown 2,000 Guineas Trial Stakes on Sunday, on his way to the Newmarket Classic in two weeks’ time.

Settled in fourth position behind a good early pace, the son of Daylami laid down his challenge early in the straight, taking the lead and repelling a strong challenge from the runner up Meath.

Dermot Weld commented after the race: “He is a brave, honest and genuine horse. There is still a good 10lb improvement in him. I’ve been very careful with him for the past fortnight because my horses haven’t hit a vein of form. He goes for the 2,000 Guineas.”
