Emirates World Champion Daylami made an impressive start to his new career at stud during the Tattersalls bloodstock sales last December, when a mare in foal to him made 235,000 Guineas at the 2001 Tattersalls December Sale. Pagoda, a four year old daughter of Sadler’s Wells who is a full-sister to Dewhurst Stakes winner Scenic, was bought by David Brown on behalf of George and Jackie Smith.

This followed another mare in foal to Daylami achieving the highest price in 11 years at the Irish Breeders’ Flat Sale in Tattersalls Ireland when making 47,000 Guineas. The mare, Ivorela, is a half sister to Group III winner Villa Carlotta, and from the close family of Spinning World.

Daylami’s first foals entered the ring during the Tattersalls December sale and averaged 59,750 Guineas, which is three times his 2002 stud fee of 25,000 euros. The highest price among the quartet of foals sold was 82,000 Guineas for a bay colt out of Local Lass, runner up in the Group III Van Geest Criterion Stakes, and dam of Listed winner Lonesome Dude.

Camas Park Stud bought a grey filly out of Snoozeandyoulose for 60,000 Guineas, while Peter Doyle put in the highest bid for a bay filly out of Moon Diamond at 52,000 Guineas. Moon Diamond is a daughter of Listed winner Moon Drop and a half sister to several winners including Group placed Moon King.
