His unbeaten son Quasillo lifts the Bavarian Classic A year after the exploits of Derby winner Sea The Moon, Sea The Stars has another leading contender for the German Classic in Quasillo, winner of an important trial at Hannover on Sunday.

Making just his second career start, the powerful chestnut bided his time under Eduardo Pedroza in the Gr. 3 Bavarian Classic. Once entering the final straight, the colt was extracted into the centre of the track by his jockey and stormed home, passing the post unextended, two and a half lengths ahead of his nearest rival.

Quasillo is now unbeaten in two outings after winning his maiden in similarly impressive fashion at Munich in April.

A delighted Andreas Wohler commented of his charge, « He did it very easily today, although he is still a little green. That just goes to show how much potential he possesses for the future. » The progressive Quasillo will now be prepared for the Deutsches Derby at Hamburg on 5th July.

The Gestüt Fährhof homebred hails from a high-class family. His dam Quetena, by Acatenango, was a Listed victrix in Germany and is a daughter of German 1000 Guineas winner Quebrada. Quetena has already produced Italian Gr. 1 winner Querari.

From the second crop of Gilltown Stud’s six-time Gr. 1 winner Sea The Stars, Quasillo is the 14th Stakes winner of his sire.
