The Aga Khan bred Ansar once again brought home Ireland's summer steeplechase showpiece, the Galway Plate, in a decisive 7 length defeat of his rivals at the Festival meeting yesterday. The nine year old son of Kahyasi, from the family of Azamour, produced a strong finishing uphill gallop to win for a seventh time at the Galway Festival. Ansar's dam, Anaza (Darshaan), has also produced Prix Ganay winner Astarabad and the Listed winner Asmara. Dermot Weld rated him " a super little horse and a very sound one. He loves fast ground - and Galway! - and is a joy to train." Updated 28/07/2005.
