Daylami sired three consecutive winners over the weekend, closely followed by a second place in the Group II Prix Greffulhe for Day Or Night. Not counting Bull Run’s runaway success at Epsom a couple of days earlier, the first leg of this treble came on Friday with Thajja’s win in the Sunderlands Condition’s Stakes over a mile at Sandown. Off the track since his five length debut win at Newmarket last July, Thajja was held up in last place before making a move and taking a decisive lead a furlong out.

Angus Gold commented after the race: “Mr Dunlop had been pleased with his work and he’s been showing plenty of speed, so I don’t think it was a surprise for him.”

On Saturday, the highly rated Norwegian based Zalo won a condition’s race in Denmark. Twice a winner at two, Zalo is now a leading candidate for the Norwegian Classics. The third leg of Daylami’s treble came with the well bred Danse D’Ecole’s two and a half length success in the Prix de l’Espoir in France on Sunday.

Day Or Night then ran on well in the Group II Prix Greffulhe to finish a close third, having had some traffic problems. He was later promoted to second place after Esperanto’s disqualification. From his first crop of three year olds this year, Daylami is already the sire of the Stakes winner Grey Swallow and the Listed placed Birthday Suit.
