Daylami made a faultless start to his career at stud when his first runner, the two year old filly Birthday Suit, ran out the convincing winner of a five furlong maiden at York yesterday. Owned and bred by Lady Halifax, Birthday Suit is out of the Kris mare Wanton, herself a winner at two and dam of Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Classic Park, and Grade II winner Rumpipumpy, as well as seven other winners.

Birthday Suit broke well and settled just behind the early leaders. Taking up the running two furlongs out and repelling all challenges very professionally, she earned the following glowing report in the Racing Post: “A grand filly, with a good temperament and a smashing pedigree, she should improve on this. The Hilary Needler Trophy at Beverley could well be her next port of call.”
