Dubai carnival success for Dalakhani

Unbeaten Deem takes Gr 3 Cape Verdi Stakes

Unbeaten Deem takes Gr 3 Cape Verdi Stakes Dalakhani has made an excellent start to the 2009 season as his daughter Deem is the latest member of the sire’s first crop to score at Group level.

The grey four-year-old was making her debut on turf and a considerable step up in class when lining up in the Gr 3 Cape Verdi Stakes over the Nad Al Sheba mile last Thursday. The filly adapted perfectly to the new surface and was not overly extended to score by a length and a half from South African Gr 2 winner Front House. Previously Deem, who is owned and bred by Prince Sultan Mohammed Saud Al Kabeer, had won all three of her outings over nine and ten furlongs on the dirt in Saudi Arabia.

...

Deem is yet another successful progeny from the cross of Dalakhani and a Sadler’s Wells mare, which has already produced St Leger and Breeders’ Cup Turf hero Conduit as well as Stakes winners Shreyas, Yahrab and Chinese White.

Following this victory in the $200,000 Cape Verdi Stakes, it would be no surprise to see Deem, who is highly thought of by her Saudi Arabian based trainer Jerry Barton, make further progress and take her chance in the Gr 1 Dubai Duty Free on the World Cup card.
