Day Or Night, third in the Group I Critérium de Saint-Cloud at the end of last year, made his first start as a three year old a winning one at Longchamp yesterday afternoon. The grey son of Daylami was settled soon after the start and moved well behind the early leaders. He then quickened in the straight and coasted home the easy one and a half length winner of the condition’s event.

Day Or Night won a competitive maiden race first time out as a two year old last September. He was then fourth in the Group III Prix de Condé at Longchamp, before finishing third in the Group I Critérium de Saint-Cloud on only his third career start. Now the winner of a conditions’ race on his seasonal reappearance, he looks set to make his mark at Group level in 2004.
