According to the latest statistics published by Timeform and Thorougbred Daily News, the Aga Khan Studs’ Dalakhani is leading two different stallion rankings. The Gilltown stallion is top European sire by median Timeform ratings and best third-season sire by average earnings.

Timeform’s statistical review shows that Dalakhani heads the list of active European sires on median Timeform rating of three-year-old progeny. The son of Darshaan’s classic generation record a median rating of 90, ahead of second-placed Galileo at 88 and third-placed Montjeu, Oasis Dream and Tiger Hill on 83.

The TDN figures reveal that Dalakhani leads his northern hemisphere third-season sire peers on average earnings per runner. Dalakhani’s progeny have earned a total of just under $10 million, averaging $81,297 per runner. Among the 123 individuals to have seen a racecourse, 58% have entered the winner’s enclosure.

The grey Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner has sired 21 black-type individuals and these are headed by four-time Group 1 winner Conduit who won back-to-back editions of the Breeders’ Cup Turf as well as Classic honours in the St Leger and victory in the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot. Conduit has now become Dalakhani’s first stallion son as he retired for stud duties to Big Red Farm in Japan for the 2010 season.
