A Dalakhani filly fetched a record breaking 700,000gns on the opening day of the Tattersalls December sale. On the opening day of the Tattersalls December sale, a beautiful bred filly by Dalakhani out of a three-parts sister to Group 1 Prix Saint Alary winner Cerulean Sky (by Darshaan) and Grade 1 Breeder’s Cup Filly and Mare Turf runner-up L’Ancresse (by Darshaan) fetched a record breaking 700,000 gns. The filly was purchased by Demi O’Byrne on behalf of the Coolmore managing partners and is likely to be sent into training with Aidan O’Brien. “She was a very good mover. I would be disappointed if she’s not a stakes winner”, said O’Byrne.

Prior to Dalakhani’s record priced filly, another member of Dalakhani’s first crop equalled the previous December sales record when selling for 360,000gns to Demi O’Byrne again on behalf of the Coolmore team. The colt is out of a half sister to Croco Rouge and to Alidiva, dam of the Group 1 winning trio Taipan, Ali-Royal and Sleepytime. “He was a great mover, a great looker and it’s a very good pedigree”, said O’Byrne.

Yearlings from the first crop of Dalakhani have been particularly well received throughout the sales season. Dalakhani is now established as the leading European freshman sire by average price sold (€238,789 for 23 yearlings sold to date).

Dalakhani stands at Gilltown Stud, Ireland at a fee of €35,000 in 2007.
