Choc Ice gave her sire Kahyasi yet another Stakes victory when taking the Listed Prix de Boulogne over 10 furlongs yesterday at Longchamp. Settled towards the rear of the field, Choc Ice was brought with a smooth run half way up the straight, before running out the convincing ¾ length winner of the Listed event.

She is now being prepared for a tilt at landing back-to-back victories in the Grade I E. P. Taylor Stakes at Woodbine, Canada on 29th September. Her trainer Robert Collet commented after the race:

...

“The fast early pace really suited Choc Ice, who was always travelling well, and this allowed her to make the most of her turn of foot. She will now be aimed at the Grade I E. P. Taylor Stakes … over there she will be assured of a race run at a good pace.”

Choc Ice’s Stakes victory continued an excellent year for her sire Kahyasi, already sire of the Group I Grand Prix de Paris winner Khalkevi, and broodmare sire of Champion filly Banks Hill. Choc Ice is out of the Aga Khan bred mare Sherkiya, who was sold in December 1997 at Tattersalls with Choc Ice in utero. Sherkiya is out of a full sister to champion racehorse Shergar. This family traces back to one of the original Aga Khan foundation mares, Mumtaz Mahal.
