Filly offers her sire Siyouni a fourth Stakes victory. Leading first crop sire Siyouni shone once again at the weekend as his daughter Bourrée secured Germany’s premier juvenile filles’ contest, Baden-Baden’s Gr. 3 Preis der Winterkönigin.

The Haras de Bonneval stallion now counts three Group winners among his first generation, with Bourrée joining Gr. 3 Prix de Cabourg victrix and dual Gr.1 placed Ervedya, and Souvenir Delondres, recent winner of the Gr. 3 Prix Eclipse as well as the Listed Prix de la Vallée d’Auge. The Gr. 1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère winner is also sire of Listed scorer Mocklershill and Gr. 2 placed Lehaim.

Pivotal’s son Siyouni, who boasts impressive statistics of 11.4 % black-type winners to runners, leads the European first-season sire table in this category as well as that of earnings in France.

Racing for the third time in her career, Bourrée was positioned handily in the early stages of the Gr. 3 Preis der Winterkönigin and soon took control of the mile event. The progressive filly stayed on gamely to the line and secured her victory with a favourable verdict on the final post.

Bourrée’s trainer Andreas Löwe believes that the manner of this success indicates that she is likely to stay the 11 furlongs of the German Oaks as a three-year-old.

Bourrée is the best offspring to date of her dam, the unraced Lomitas mare Bearlita. Her second dam Bearall was a dual Listed winner in England and Germany.
