Gilltown Stud sire boasts enviable statistics. Gilltown Stud stallion Sea The Stars is currently enjoying a fine run of form and his daughter Armande continued the good work with a smooth success in the Gr. 2 Prix Corrida at Saint-Cloud on Tuesday.

The progressive four-year-old filly had already picked up multiple places at Group and Listed level at three years old and on her seasonal debut when second in both the Gr. 3 Prix Allez France and Listed Prix Zarkava. Armande was most impressive in the ten and a half furlong Prix Corrida, taking the lead two furlongs out and powering home to score by three lengths. She is now likely to face her male counterparts at the highest level, taking in the Gr. 1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud on 2nd July.

Trained by André Fabre and owned in partnership by Baron Edouard de Rothschild and Lady Chryss O’Reilly, Armande is out of Listed winner and Group-placed Alpine Snow (Verglas) and her grand-dam Altruiste (Diesis) is a half-sister to Urban Sea, dam of Sea The Stars, Born To Sea and Galileo. In winning the Prix Corrida, she became the 35th individual Stakes winner for her sire, Arc victor Sea The Stars.

Sea The Stars is the sire of 21 Group winners and 61 Stakes performers.

The success of Armande comes hot on the heels of Cloth Of Stars’ unbeaten run in three outings to date this season, culminating in the Gr. 1 Prix Ganay on 1st May. This high-class son of Sea The Stars holds an entry in the Gr. 1 Prince of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot next month.

Sea The Stars’ statistics make remarkable reading, as the sire of 21 Group winners and 61 Stakes performers boasts a lifetime ratio of 12% Stakes winners to runners, a figure only bettered by Dubawi at the same stage of their careers. An impressive one in five of the Gilltown Stud resident’s runners are Stakes performers (20%).
