Sea The Stars broke another record when his son out of Navajo Moon sold for €520,000 at Arqana Breeze Up Sale.

His son Salamargo raises a bid of 520,000 Euros at Arqana. Sea The Stars was the star of the show at Arqana’s Saint Cloud breeze-up this weekend as his son Salamargo established a new record for the sale. Even before his good breeze, the handsome bay from the first crop of his champion racehorse sire had understandably attracted a great deal of interest and this was confirmed in the ring on Saturday.

The son of dual Listed winner Navajo Moon (Danehill) became the focus of a bidding war between agent Hugo Merry, Mandore International’s Nicolas de Watrigant representing Sheikh Joaan Al Thani and the eventual successful buyers, trainer Marco Botti on behalf of Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum who had the last word at 520,000 Euros.

This represents a new top price for the sale, and a substantial pinhooking profit as the Agence FIPS had paid 200,000 Euros to secure the colt as a yearling at Deauville. Consigned by The Channel Consignment, Salamargo is impeccably bred as in addition to his six-time Group 1 winning sire, his Stakes winning dam is the full sister to Group 2 scorer and sire Five Dynasties and Irish Derby third Roosevelt, from the close family of top French sire Poliglote.

Gilltown Stud’s Sea The Stars was also represented by a half-brother to Gr 1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère winner Naaqoos and this colt from the Ecurie Prévost-Baratte was knocked down to trainer Jehan Bertran de Balanda for 165,000 Euros, the fifth highest price of the sale.
