Sires and maternal lines prove popular in the ring.

Yearlings with Aga Khan Studs pedigrees were highly sought-after at Tattersalls recent Book 1 and 2 sales in Newmarket, with progeny of both Aga Khan broodmares and sires attracting high prices.

Four yearlings out of Aga Khan Studs bred broodmares broke the 300,000 Guineas marker in the Book 1 catalogue. The highlight of these was lot 487, a son of Frankel and unraced Daylami mare Tariysha, purchased by Shadwell for 700,000 Guineas. Sold for 140,000 Euros at Goffs in 2005, Tariysha has already produced Group 1 winner Arcano.

A Sea The Stars half-brother to dual Group 1 victrix Shareta raised a bid of 650,000 Guineas from Mayfair Speculators and Peter & Ross Doyle Bloodstock, and this lot 440 had changed hands in utero with his dam for 550,000 Euros at Goffs in 2013.

This colt was the top price among Sea The Stars’ representatives in Book 1, which averaged an excellent 227,000 Guineas. By the same sire, lot 269, a granddaughter of dual Classic heroine Imagine, also broke the half-million Guinea barrier when selling to BBA Ireland.

Yearlings by Dalakhani created plenty of interest, with four individuals selling in Books 1 and 2 for an average of just under 100,000 Euros.

Young sire Siyouni continues to attract attention and all four of his progeny in Books 1 and 2, conceived at a 7,000 Euro fee, changed hands for an average of 168,000 Guineas (or 241,000 Euros). Of these, 320,000 Guinea purchase lot 262, is out of Aga Khan Studs bred Kalandara, a half-sister to Kalanisi who was sold for just 35,000 Euros when in foal to this colt.

The Haras de Bonneval sire topped Day 3 of the Book 2 session with lot 1131 Ningaloo, a half-brother to Group 2 winner Now We Can who was knocked down to Simon Crisford for a bid of 280,000 Guineas. Overall, Siyouni was joint leader in the standings for stallions with two or more progeny in Book 2, with an average of 130,000 Guineas.

Finally, Redoute’s Choice hit the headlines with a half-sister to dual Group 1 winner Legatissimo, snapped up by Coolmore’s M.V. Magnier for 725,000 Guineas. The top Australian sire, who spent two shuttle seasons at the Haras de Bonneval, registered an average of 321,000 Guineas for his Book 1 representatives.
