Epsom Derby weekend, 5 years ago, and Sinndar won the great race in convincing style. 5 years on and his daughter Shawanda proved her class by running out the easy winner of the Group 3 Prix de Royaumont during heavy showers at Chantilly on Saturday, leaving Royal Highness 2 and a half lengths behind. Winner of 3 of her 4 starts, Shawanda has progressed quickly through the ranks and is being aimed at the Prix Vermeille this autumn.

Meanwhile last year's Moyglare runner-up Pictavia finished a very promising 3rd in the Vodafone Oaks at Epsom. Elsewhere this weekend Jules Cesar (3 yo colt ex. Horphaly) won the Prix Maurice Edouard Delanglade in France while in Switzerland Quartier Latin (3 yo colt ex Kalankara) won the Preis der Finnova AG Bankware. Updated 06/06/2005
