Gilltown Stud’s 2009 Epsom Derby winner is strongly represented by his first crop among entries for the 2014 edition of the English Classic. Sea The Stars, who also counts the 2000 Guineas and Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe among his haul of six Group 1 titles, has 33 yearlings engaged in the famous race.
These include the first offspring of Japanese champion mare Vodka and the colt which topped August’s Arqana sale at 1.2 million Euros, out of Aga Khan Studs-bred Gr 1 winner Alpine Rose (Linamix). Two further Sea The Stars entries boast Epsom Classic scorers on both sides of their pedigree, being sons of 2000 and 2008 Oaks heroines Love Divine and Look Here.
Other noteworthy nominations are a three-quarter brother to Irish Derby and Coronation Cup winner Soldier Of Fortune and a three-quarter brother to Prix Royal-Oak heroine Allegretto, half brothers to dual American Group 1 victrix Angara, Irish Guineas winner Finsceal Beo, French Derby hero Le Havre, and dual Group 1 winner Youmzain and Lockinge winner Creachadoir. Already named, Tall Ship is a son of Cheveley Park Stakes winner Magical Romance.
