Behkara and Luriyya finished first and second respectively in the Listed Prix des Tourelles at Saint-Cloud on Friday. The beautifully bred Behkara is by Kris, out of the Group I winning Mill Reef mare Behera, winner of the Prix Saint-Alary. Behkara was taking a step up in class, having recently been the impressive five length winner of a small conditions’ race in Deauville. Soumillon commented after the race: “I had a few lengths to make up on Luriyya, and I thought for a moment that I might not get to her, but my filly was very courageous.”

The runner up Luriyya, by Valanour out of the Rainbow Quest mare Liwana, led for a long time and stayed on strongly to the end, before being headed by her stablemate just before the line. Both fillies are trained by Alain de Royer Dupré in Chantilly.
