Sunday was a productive day for Aga Khan fillies in France and Ireland, with Verema (Barathea) reversing previous form to lift the Prix de Lutèce and Harasiya (Pivotal) taking third in the Gr.1 Moyglare Stud Stakes.

The Alain de Royer Dupré-trained Verema was winning her third race after being successful on her first two outings at Saint-Cloud and Longchamp in May and June. Fourth in the Listed Prix de Thiberville, the filly was then unsuited by the running of the Listed Prix Michel Houyvet against the colts on her first attempt at the staying distance of a mile and seven furlongs at Deauville.

Verema showed her true worth on Sunday at Longchamp, under a patient ride from Christophe Lemaire who allowed his partner time to produce her long acceleration and take the advantage in the final metres. This granddaughter of Gr.1 Prix de Diane heroine Vereva (Kahyasi) could now be aimed towards the Gr.2 Prix Chaudenay on Arc weekend.

Verema has a two-year-old half sister by Monsun, a yearling half sister by Zamindar and her dam Vermentina is in foal to the Group 1 juvenile winner Siyouni.

In Ireland, the talented Harasiya put up a solid performance to finish third in the Moyglare Stud Stakes. Already a Group 3 winner and Group 2 runner-up, John Oxx’s charge was just denied second place by a head in the last strides. Her dam Hazariya has a yearling filly by Oasis Dream and is in foal to Sea The Stars.

The Aga Khan Studs colours did visit the winners’ enclosure twice during Sunday’s Curragh card, thanks to maiden scorers Tarana (two year old by Cape Cross) and Ebazan (Lemon Drop Kid).

Further afield in Australia, Aga Khan Studs-bred Manighar (Linamix) made a most satisfactory return to action, finishing a head second in the Gr.2 Makybe Diva Stakes over a mile at Flemington after a winter break of four months. The triple Group 1 winner is on course for his major objective, the Cox Plate. Fellow Aga Khan-bred Mourayan (Alhaarth) stuck well to his task to take fourth in the same contest.
