Though just once raced herself, Salyana boasted an attractive broodmare’s pedigree, with her dam being a half-sister to Sichilla, dam of Siyouni. Sold as a three-year-old at the 2017 Arqana December Sale, she was bought by Paul Nataf for €32,000.

Salyana’s 2023 foal Highwayman, a son of Persian King bred by Thierry De La Heronnière, made an inauspicious start to racing, but stepped up in trip soon found a winning gear. His victory in the 2026 St Leger under jockey Saffie Osborne marked a first British Classic success for a female rider.
