AK sires so close to glory on Arc weekend

Thursday 9 October 2008

Youmzain (Sinndar) second in the Arc. Shemima and Centennial (Dalakhani) second and third in the Gr2 Prix Chaudenay.

YOUMZAIN finished second behing Zarkava in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe and he is a son of the Aga Khan’s Haras de Bonneval-based sire Sinndar. The irreproachable YOUMZAIN was competing in his twelfth successive Group 1 contest. He counts two victories at this level and has finished second or third on seven occasions. The five-year-old entire will remain in training next season when he will once again target all the principal international races over the classic distance.

Dalakhani’s produce also enjoyed a profitable weekend at Longchamp. The Classic sire was represented by SHEMIMA (already a Gr 3 winner), and CENTENNIAL (Gr 2 winner), both in the Gr 2 Prix Chaudenay. CENTENNIAL attempted to win the race from pillar to post and was only headed in the final furlong. He took third place, half a length behind his half-sister SHEMIMA who finished well to take second.
