The Aga Khan Studs will be represented by an exciting draft of 11 thoroughbreds at the Arqana Summer Sale on 20th July. The consignment features three winners and a half-brother to Variyann who is himself unbeaten in two outings for new connections since changing hands last November. Other successful recruits sold last year include Sanary, black-type in Scandinavia, and the promising Mirann who won first time out in Ireland for new owners OTI Racing recently, while Laldann, sold in 2018 is a consistent Graded performer over jumps in Italy.

This season’s consignment is headed by lot 113 Asharann, a son of Zoffany and dual Group 2 scorer Ashalanda (Linamix). This three-year-old colt, successful during the winter at Cagnes-sur-Mer, is a half-brother to Listed winner Ashlan and Listed placed Ashkannd. Recent winner Shinasi (lot 111, Olympic Glory) also presents a promising profile and this three-year-old colt hails from the family of the top-class Shareta.

Four-year-old Shannkiyr (lot 160, Elusive Quality) won over ten furlongs and was placed over a mile and a half. Out of Group 2 winning stayer Shankardeh, the gelding represents the maternal line of champion Shergar.

Lots 112 Safiyann and 159 Edremi have both been placed to date. The former is a colt by Zoffany and out of a full sister to Slickly, closely related to Siyouni, while the latter descends from the famous bloodline of Enzeli, Estimate, Ebadiyla and Edabiya.

Five of the draft are untried on the track and some of the most interesting profiles are those of lot 218 Vadabad, a son of Dansili and Group 1 winner Vazira who has already produced Variyann, lot 220 Shanndar, a Mastercraftsman half-brother to Listed scorer and Group placed Shahnaza, and lot 219 Zaidi (Born To Sea), a grandson of Prix de Diane heroine Zainta who is the dam of Group 1 winning hurdlers Zaidpour and Zaynar.
