Aga Khan Studs’ consignment rich in potential for racing and breeding
Varkhann, lot 64, is out of the Stakes placed mare Virana
The Aga Khan Studs will be represented by an appealing draft of eight individuals at the forthcoming Goffs February Sale. The consignment, which as usual features some of the operation’s best families, is composed of one gelding and eight fillies and mares, offering an opportunity for breeders to acquire prestigious bloodlines.
Three-year-old gelding Varkhann will be the first to go under the hammer, as lot 64. This blue-blooded son of Azamour is a grandson of Prix de Diane heroine Vereva, and his Stakes-placed dam Virana (King’s Best) has produced two winners to date including Verawal (Sinndar) who is Group placed over hurdles.
Another Aga Khan Studs Prix de Diane winner, Zainta, is the granddam of lot 650 Zaiba (King’s Best). This four-year-old mare is out of winning mare Zaidiyna, a half-sister to two Grade 1 winners over jumps, and she was placed on three occasions in 2016.
Lot 668 Amiliya is a winner and was placed at three years old, the daughter of Azamour is out of a winning half-sister to dual Group 1 scorer Amilynx, Group 2 winner Amiwain and Listed victrix and Group placed Amie De Mix, as well as to the dam of Group 2 victrix Zinziberine.

The remaining quartet of fillies are all unraced to date. By Sea The Stars, lot 651 Zenara is a half-sister to six winners, including Listed winners Zanughan and Zand, and she shares her third dam with champion Zarkava.
Lots 654 and 662, Anjana and Aalia, hail from the same maternal line as they share prolific Stakes performer Alannya as third dam. Alannya produced nine winners including champion filly Aliysa, dam of Desert Story and granddam of Alamshar, and Listed victrix Aliya, dam of dual Group 1 winner Alandi and Listed scorers Aliyfa and Almela. Aliyfa is the dam of lot 662 Aalia, and she has already carried on the family tradition in the paddocks, producing Listed winner and Group 2 third Alveena in 2016.
