Group-winning stayer Valirann heads Arqana entry.
Valirann is a half brother to Classic winner Valyra
Group-winning stayer Valirann heads Arqana entry. Diakali (Sinndar), Siyouma (Medicean) and Manighar (Linamix) are just a few names of Aga Khan Studs graduates to succeed at the highest level on the flat or over jumps after being offered for public or private sale. Investors will have a new opportunity to acquire promising stock from this stable as Valirann, Visiyani and Zerdabi are all entered in the forthcoming Arqana Arc sale on 5th October.
Valirann boasts an almost faultless record on the track, with his only defeat in four outings being a second place on his debut in June. The talented stayer has since won three times over distances from a mile and a half to a mile and seven furlongs, culminating in victory in the Gr.3 Prix de Lutèce at Longchamp. Three-year-old colt Valirann is a son of Nayef and Listed winner Valima and is therefore a half-brother to Azamour’s Prix de Diane victrix Valyra as well as two further black-type performers. This is also the family of Breeders’ Cup hero Val Royal and Group 1 scorers Valixir and Vadawina.
Group-placed Visiyani (Rock Of Gibraltar) will be the second Aga Khan Studs representative to go under the hammer, as lot 29. This grey colt placed second and third in the Gr.3 Prix des Chênes and Prix Thomas Bryon last season as a juvenile. During the 2013 campaign, he lifted a Class B contest over a mile at Maisons-Laffitte and crossed the Atlantic to take fifth place in the Gr.1 Secretariat States. Visiyani is out of Group 1 third Visionnaire, dam of Group winner Visionario and Group placed Vison Célèbre and half-sister to Group 1 scorer Varenar.
Zaidpour
Lot 33 Zerdabi (Tiger Hill) is sure to attract plenty of attention as he is a close relative to Zaidpour (Red Ransom) who was purchased at this sale in 2009 for €80,000 before winning half a dozen Graded hurdles including two at the highest level. Zaidpour’s Prix de Diane winning dam Zainta (Kahyasi) has also produced Gr.1 Triumph Hurdle winner Zaynar (Daylami) and is a half-sister to French champion hurdler Zaiyad (Sadler’s Wells). This excellent dual purpose pedigree traces back to Zahra as third dam. The unexposed Zerdabi has won a B conditions race over a mile for trainer Alain de Royer Dupré.
