The Aga Khan Studs send a 12-strong consignment to Doncaster HIT sale.

Emrani

Since changing hands for £26,000 at Doncaster’s Horses in Training sale in October 2008, the Aga Khan-bred Barizan (Kalanisi) has gone on to become one of the best young hurdlers in Britain. The impressive front-runner took second place in the Gr.1 Triumph Hurdle and Gr.1 Anniversary Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham and Aintree respectively before gaining a well-earned top-flight victory in the Gr.1 Champion 4YO Hurdle at the Punchestown Festival last April.

The Aga Khan Studs’ draft for the forthcoming DBS November Horses in Training sale from 3rd to 5th November features a number of well-related youngsters. Lot 285 Behtarini (Dalakhani) belongs to the close family of Barizan and is grandson of Arc runner-up Behera, also granddam of the Aga Khan Studs’ Breeders’ Cup Turf hope Behkabad and dam of Grade 1 hurdler Behrajan. This three-year-old is a middle distance performer and placed seven times in eight starts to date.

Ebanour

Lots 287 Emrani (Rahy) and 330 Ebanour (Indian Ridge) are both closely related to champion Irish filly Ebadiyla. This dual Group 1 victrix, half-sister to Ascot Gold Cup hero Enzeli and Gr.1 Moyglare Stud Stakes winner Edabiya, is dam of the unraced colt Ebanour, who is therefore half-brother to Grade 1 Cheltenham Festival winner Ebaziyan and Eyshal, a Pattern performer in Europe and in Hong Kong. Emrani has won three races over 10 furlongs to two miles and he is out of a half-sister to the champion filly Ebadiyla.

Another superb mare, Darara, is the granddam of lot 332, the unraced Derapour (Tiger Hill). Out of a winning mare whose illustrious half-siblings include Dar Re Mi, Diaghilev, Darazari and Rewilding, the unraced colt is a half-brother to four-time Group winning stayer Darasim. He will be followed through the ring by a gelding from the same line, Dabari. This unraced gelding is a half-brother to Dabiroun, Group 3 placed on the flat and a Listed scorer over hurdles.

Derapour

Lot 265 Madayan represents the same cross as Princess Zahra Aga Khan’s Mandesha. Like the triple Group 1 winning filly whose dam is a half-sister to his own dam, Madayan is by Desert Style. He is also a close relative to Mandesha’s half brother, the 2010 Gr.1 Grande Course de Haies d’Auteuil Hurdle winner Mandali and is out of a hal-sister to dual Group 1 winner Manndar.
