Almanzor

In a year when Aga Khan Studs sold broodmares have produced no less than four Group 1 winners for new connections, the forthcoming Goffs consignment is sure to attract interest. Breeders in search of the dams of the next Almanzor, Vadamos, Mont Ormel and Rawnaq have 21 Aga Khan Studs mares to choose from in the catalogue of Goffs Breeding Stock Sale on 18th and 19th November.

A winning three-year-old filly closely related to Almanzor will be one of the attractions of this draft, which is composed of confirmed and future broodmares from some of the Aga Khan Studs’ top families. Lot 1549 Darkyila is a daughter of Medicean, out of the half-sister to Darkara, granddam of Europe’s champion three-year-old colt Almanzor, and to Darinska, dam of champion Darjina.

Other successful fillies include Simannka (Mastercraftsman), a three-time winner and Listed placed. This lot 1345 is out of a half-sister to dual Derby and Arc winner Sinndar. Beautifully-bred Embiyra (Tamayuz, lot 1344), winner at 2 years, is a daughter of Elbasana, dam of two Stakes performers and half-sister to the Group 1 winning quartet Enzeli, Estimate, Ebadiyla and Edabiya.

A winner and placed, lot 1544 Baliyka, by Cape Cross, is out of Group 3 victrix Baliyana (Dalakhani), who has produced Group 3 runner-up Balansiya.

The unraced Hazanama (Pivotal, lot 1346) boasts a pedigree in the news this season as she is out of Group 3 winner and Irish Oaks placed Hazarista, whose Group-winning half-sister Hazariya is none other than the dam of 2016 Epsom and Irish Derby hero Harzand, a new recruit for Gilltown Stud in 2017.

Lot 1343, maiden mare Mounira, by Raven’s Pass and out of Group 2 victrix Mouramara (Kahyasi), counts no less than three Group winners among her siblings, Group 1 scorer Mourayan, Listed winner and Melbourne Cup third Mourilyan, and multiple Group scorer Mourad.

Of the more mature broodmares, lot 1340 Kerania has already proven her worth as this daughter of Daylami and Listed victrix Kermiyana has produced four winners including Listed scorer and Group placed Karasiyra and Stakes performer Kirinda.

The well-bred pair of Kadayna (lot 1338), by proven broodmare sire Dalakhani, and out of a half-sister to the inimitable Kahyasi, and Kalidaha (Cadeaux Genereux, lot 1339), whose dam is half-sister to the top-class Kalanisi, complete the highlights of this consignment.
