Recent winner Ebadan heads Goffs draft

Three Aga Khan colts in February Sale.

The Aga Khan Studs will present a select consignment of three-year-old colts at Goffs forthcoming February Sale. As ever, the draft represents some of the stud’s finest pedigrees, and potential for a future on the flat or over jumps. Last year, Rashaan was sold for €8,500 at this sale before going on to win the Gr.3 Juvenile Hurdle at Fairyhouse for his new owners.

The trio is led by the blue-blooded Ebadan, who opened his account in fine style recently at Dundalk. By Holy Roman Emperor, the colt is out of a half-sister to the Group 1 winning quartet of Enzeli, Estimate, Ebadiyla and Edabiya. The family has also enjoyed success at the highest level over jumps thanks to Cheltenham Festival scorer Ebaziyan.

Twice placed as a juvenile, the Michael Halford-trained Ebadan ran out the length and a half winner of a mile contest at Dundalk on 15th January and he looks to have a bright future either on the flat or over hurdles. Presented as lot 303 Ebadan is the half-brother to three winners, including Stakes performer Ederan.

Lot 308 Zoravan hails from the maternal line of champion Zarkava. In addition to the Arc heroine, the son of More Than Ready is therefore a relative of Grade 1 winning hurdler Zarkandar. Zoravan’s second dam Zarranda was a dual Listed victrix and has produced two Stakes performers as well as the dam of Listed winners Zand and Zanughan.

Zoravan will be followed through the Goffs ring by Zilbiyr, a son of Holy Roman Emperor who also descends from the distaff family of Zahra and Petite Etoile. Zilbiyr was placed on his only start this year and finished a promising third on 5th February at Dundalk. He is a grandson of Stakes winner Zafzala, half-sister to Zerpour and Zabadi, successful at Group 2 level on the flat and over hurdles respectively.
