The Aga Khan Studs are represented by a small but select consignment at Goffs 9th February. The February Sale saw future Group 1 winning hurdler Rashaan change hands in 2015 and a relative to this talented jumper is among the 2021 draft, which also features a beautifully bred filly.

Hailing from one of the Aga Khan Studs iconic families, lot 234 Azila is out of a half-sister to Champion Racehorse Azamour. In addition to the four-time Group 1 winner, her Listed-winning granddam Asmara, a half-sister to Astarabad, has produced Group 2 scorer and sire Arazan, Stakes placed Ahsanabad and Azmiyna, dam of Australian Champion The Autumn Sun, now an exciting young stallion. The four-year-old Azila, by Dark Angel, has been placed on multiple occasions in Ireland.

The three geldings present attractive profiles for a future on the flat or over jumps. From the family of Rashaan, lot 104 Razdan (Zoffany) has been placed twice including recently when he finished second, beaten just a head, in a Dundalk maiden on 15 January. The three-year-old gelding is a son of four-time winner Rayna, half-sister to Group 2 winner Raydara.

Also aged three years, once-raced Kasansay (Fast Company, lot 97) is out of Galileo mare Kasanka, a half-sister to Irish St Leger heroine Kastoria and dam of two Stakes performers including Group 3 winner Kastasa. Among a host of other black-type winners, Kasansay’s pedigree also features Derby winner and influential sire Kahyasi.

Four-year-old Timourid (Gleneagles, lot 109) is a grandson of Champion Mare Timarida who counts three Group 1 titles among her ten successes. Her progeny include Group scorer Timarwa, Tilimsana, dam of a Group winner over hurdles, as well as the Listed-placed Timabiyra (Linamix), dam of Timourid and his two winning siblings. Timourid showed promise on the track last season, and was placed twice at the Curragh, narrowly beaten by future St Leger winner Galileo Chrome and then by Derby hero Serpentine.
