The son of Desert Prince took his winning streak to four when scoring in the Mustaqbali Handicap.
Four-year-old Mourilyan is H.H. the Aga Khan’s only representative to date at the 2008 Dubai Carnival and his campaign has been faultless so far.
He opened his account in Dubai with an easy win in the Dubal Casthouse Handicap on 31st January for trainer John Oxx and jockey Mick Kinane and confirmed his wellbeing in a similar 12-furlong handicap on the Nad Al Sheba turf on 21st February. The lightly-raced colt had lost his maiden tag when an impressive four and a half length winner at The Curragh in October of last season and won again in November at Leopardstown. In his only outing as a juvenile, Mourilyan finished third behind future Irish Derby winner Soldier of Fortune at Navan.
Mourilyan looks to be a progressive sort as Mick Kinane commented after his last to first run for victory, “He’s still improving and there’s more to come from him. I was always confident we’d pick them up and win.”
Mourilyan is the first product of classy Kahyasi mare Mouramara who won the Gr.2 Prix de Royallieu.
In 2007, H.H. the Aga Khan was successful with his sole colour-bearer at Nad Al Sheba as Sanaya lifted the Listed Cape Verdi Stakes.
2025 has been another successful year for the connections of mares bred and sold by the Aga Khan Studs. No fewer than four Group 1 winners have flown the flag worldwide – including two high-profile juveniles.
